Students enrolled for Kindergarten at Holy Family are supported in their transitioning by being allocated a buddy from Year Six to support them on this journey. These buddies are provided numerous opportunities to create strong friendships with each other in the term prior to Kindergarten beginning as well as further strengthening this buddy relationship through planned activities throughout the Kindergarten year to ensure each child settles in well to life at ‘big school’.
Students at Holy Family Primary School, Merewether Beach are supported by a learning support teacher and learning support assistants. The learning support team assist the pastoral and academic needs of the students.
Holy Family has a psychologist working at the school, provided through the Catholic Schools Office. The psychologist provides support with academic and social assessments. Recommendations are made to assist both parents and teachers in catering for the ongoing educational needs of these students.
Through the Federal Government Chaplaincy Program, Holy Family Primary School, Merewether Beach offers a support person to those experiencing difficult moments in their school life such as peer conflicts, a death in the family, separation and divorce. This person also supports the staff and participates regularly in the student lunchtime club to foster caring relationships with all.
