CHANGE IN UNIFORM DAYS 15th August 2016
Dear Parents, Due to the recent change to PLC and fitness mornings, Primary sport and the Infant’s excursion, please note the changes to what uniform the students will wear to school over the next two weeks. .
Last Monday afternoon, our school community came together to do what we do best….supporting a fam-ily in need! Year 5 student, Lani Fear, is undergoing chem-otherapy at John Hunter Hospital for cancer. Her class-mates have rallied around her and given her enormous support for the challenges she will face. Years 1 and 2 had a great time travelling on Newcastle's Famous Tram to take in some historical knowledge - learning about the beaches, mining, famous land marks, the harbour, and much more.
The classes also visited Newcastle Museum for the Stage 1 Excursion -Tram and Museum 26th February 2016
Years 1 and 2 had a great time travelling on Newcastle's Famous Tram to take in some historical knowledge - learning about the beaches, mining, famous land marks, the harbour, and much more. The classes also visited Newcastle Museum for the "Mystery of History" Education programme. The children were asked to be like detectives to use objects from the past to learn about what life was like. It was a great day with lots of fun learning. .

Year 3/ 4 Computer Whizzes
Recently Stage 2 children went on an excursion to the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney where they attended a workshop in ‘coding.’ Being introduced to coding gives students an appreciation of what can be built with technology.  Students are exposed to the skills needed to develop computer applications. Kids that code gain a good appreciation of computational thinking and logical thought that helps them develop good critical thinking skills.  Computer Whizzes 12th November 2015

Year 6 Novacare 12th May 2015
On Tuesday, 5th May, Year 6 hosted Novacare’s Sing Out Loud program. We prepared tea and some of the students brought in some delicious goodies for us to share with our elders..
On Saturday, 25th April, 2015, ANZAC Day was commemorated all around Australia as well as other parts of the world, particularly Gallipoli. Merewether had its own dawn service to commemorate the 100 years since the Gallipoli landing and to acknowledge the tremendous efforts of past and present Australian Defence Force troops. On, Friday 20th March, 2015, Imogen Burton & Max Mantach represented Holy Family for the Polding swimming carnival at the Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre where they competed against swimmers from all over NSW.
It was a great achievement for them to get through the series of carnivals to qualify for Polding and exciting to swim in the pool where the Olympics were held.
A memorable, fun day was had by all, it was Awesome !

Holy Family Playgroup 25th March 2015
Playgroup is a wonderful opportunity for families to play and learn together and we look forward to welcoming new faces on Monday, 20th April in the Holy Family Centre. Let your friends and neighbours know they are very welcome to attend. The group will run from 9am till 11am on Monday mornings. There will be craft and activities availableand kids' morning tea (adults to bring own fruit) for just $20 per term. .
